There are certain items in your vehicle that are obligatory. Those items include the owner’s manual, car repair information, your registration, among others. However, there are items that might not be required but are essential to keep your car running and to deal with unforeseen events. Here are 10 things that you should have in your car at all times!

Tire Jack, Spare Tire, and Lug Wrench

Depending on how well you take care of your tires (tire rotations, alignment, replacement), the odds that you will lose a tire while on the road range from quite low to fairly high. Granted, you never know when that will happen, but it is best to be prepared in case. That is why it is important to have a spare tire, a jack, and a lug wrench. There is nothing worse than being stranded. Save yourself the hassle and have these items on you.

Jumper Cables

If your vehicle’s battery dies, you’ll need a jump start. If a passerby or someone you know comes to help, these will be able to jump your battery and get you back on the road and to the store to buy a new battery. There are also jumper cables out there that do not require another car battery to charge. Those come in super handy while out in rural areas.

First Aid Kit

Much like everything else on here, you’ll never know when you need to use a first aid kit. But, having one can be a godsend in certain situations. Kits include ointments, gauze, gloves, scissors, and Band-Aids.

Flashlight

If you are in the middle of nowhere and you need to change your tire or see what has happened to your vehicle, a flashlight will come in handy. Especially if you do not want to kill your phone’s battery by using its flashlight.

Car Hammer

When you find the need to break a car window, there’s nothing better than a car hammer. Is your car sinking in a lake? Then a hammer will allow you to easily find your way out of the car before you sink to deep. Most come with a seatbelt cutter too.

Duct Tape

The list of uses for duct tape is long and varied. As such, it is one of the best items to have in a pinch.

Reflective Triangles and Flares

Breaking down on a major road is not only annoying, but it’s extremely dangerous, especially at night. Reflective triangles and flares offer better visibility for oncoming traffic, which lowers the chance of you being struck by unsuspecting motorists.

Other important items include:
