The weather is warm, the sun is shining, and more than likely your kids are bursting at the seams to get outside and play. Try a few of these fun family outdoor activities that the whole crew will enjoy!

Ride Bikes

If you haven’t already taught your kids to ride bikes, now is a perfect time! The weather is warm enough that they won’t need extra coats or bulky layers but it’s not yet hot enough that they’ll be too hot after a few minutes in the sun. If your kids are already putting the pedals to the pavement, consider setting up a bike obstacle course for them to sharpen their skills!

Disposable Camera Nature Walk

Give your kids a throwback to your childhood with disposable cameras! Buy a few at the convenience store and let the kids snap pictures of anything that interests them on a nature walk or a walk around the neighborhood. After the photos have been developed, you can use the photos for a collage craft on a rainy day!

Outdoor Sensory Tubs

Spring and summer present a great opportunity for messier sensory tubs. While it’s warm and the kids can play outside, fill their sensory tubs with messy things you might not want inside the house like sand, colored water, and dirt. It’s a win-win for everyone – the kids get to play and explore while you can keep your living room clean for just a little bit longer!

Big, Messy Art

As with the sensory tubs, think of the warmer months as an opportunity to let the kids do all of the messy art projects you would otherwise discourage inside the house. Bring out the glitter, big sheets of paper, and paint then let your little ones play to their hearts’ content. You can also make DIY sidewalk watercolors for a sidewalk or driveway mural.

Plant a Garden

If you’re planting a garden this season, get the kids involved! They can help spread the dirt around in the beds, dig holes for the plants, and pat the dirt back around the holes.
