Try These Summer Library Activities

Kids wait for months for the summer season to arrive. This is a time when school is out and the weather is nice. Therefore, you would expect your kids to be perfectly content all summer long, right? However, the truth is that many kids become bored during the summer as they look for activities to do. Even some adults can become restless, looking for things to do. Common summer activities such as swimming and going on vacations aren’t realistic every day during the season. But, the good news is there are many enjoyable ways people can stay busy this summer. All you need to do is head to the Farmville Public Library. Here, you and your kids will find things to do to have fun over the next few months.

Super Soaking Science

Summer doesn’t technically start until June 21. However, the season is typically underway for all intents and purposes by the end of May. School is just about out by then. Moreover, the weather in Farmville is summer-like at this time. The library has a great way to kick off the summer for your kids: water games. Your youngsters can cool off by taking part in a water gun fight on May 26 at 6 p.m. at the library, 4276 West Church St. Firstly, kids will hear a reading of the book “Whoosh!: Lonnie Johnson’s Super-Soaking Steam of Inventions.”

Next, participants will watch a video of the largest super soaker in the world. Lastly, the kids will head outside to take part in super-soaking fun: shooting water guns and having a blast. Make sure your children wear clothes they can get wet. Moreover, send them with a towel and a change of clothes. This summertime program is free!

Landscape Volunteer Day

Summertime is the perfect season for getting outside. For instance, people love working in their garden and beautifying their yard when the weather is nice. At the Farmville Public Library, you can enjoy a day to landscape the library’s grounds. You don’t have to be an expert to volunteer for this activity. However, your help will go a long way to making the area look nicer and more inviting. The first Landscape Volunteer Day of the summer will take place Saturday, June 3, from 9 to 10 a.m. Meet at the library tables near the Church Street entrance. You’ll assist in weeding, pruning, and raking. Moreover, plan on a hat, gloves, a weeding tool, and pruners.

In conclusion, these are just a few activities to check out this summer at the Farmville Public Library. Plan on joining us over the next few months.
