What are the Invictus Games?

The Invictus Games are a sporting event that allows wounded soldiers to compete in a tournament of skills much like the Olympics. Prince Harry started the games in 2014 after seeing the Warrior Games in the United States. Prince Harry is a former service member himself. Therefore, he wanted an opportunity to show the world the talent, strength, and abilities of wounded and injured servicemen and women. Prince Harry took the name for the Invictus Games from a poem by William Ernest Henley. “Invictus” means “unconquered”, and that is what the poem and the games embody.
